Applied Clinical Strategies — Clinical Training Course

A clinical training course for therapists, counselors, social workers, and supervisors who want to work more competently with Black women navigating workplace and race-based trauma.

Most graduate programs teach trauma without teaching race. Clinicians are then left to improvise when a client brings in a decade of microaggressions, an HR complaint that went nowhere, and the exhaustion of being the only one in the room. This course closes that gap. Taught by Dr. Guan Q. Ellerbe, PsyD, LMHC, LADC I — organizational leadership psychologist, clinical supervisor, and graduate-level clinical educator.

What You Will Learn

• How race-based trauma, microaggressions, and workplace discrimination present clinically — and how they are routinely misdiagnosed
• Case conceptualization that accounts for occupational context, identity, and systemic stressors
• Working with the "Strong Black Woman" schema without pathologizing it or reinforcing it
• Assessing overperformance pressure, identity conflict, and burnout as trauma sequelae
• Building emotionally safe therapeutic space when the client has learned that disclosure carries professional risk
• Boundary and identity work that supports clients who cannot simply leave the job
• Culturally responsive interventions that move clients from surviving to restoration
• Managing your own reactions, blind spots, and countertransference across difference

Who This Is For

Licensed and pre-licensed clinicians, clinical supervisors, graduate students in counseling and MFT programs, EAP providers, and coaches working with professionals of color. No prior training in racial trauma is assumed.
